Frequently asked questions
Policies, timelines, licensing, and waivers—synthesized from common OA publisher help centers (e.g. CrossRef, COPE, and DOAJ guidance).
How do I choose the right journal?
Compare aims & scope statements, recent article types, and APC or waiver policies. When in doubt, email the editorial office with your abstract for a presubmission inquiry.
What license does AcadPress use?
Most journals default to CC BY 4.0 for the Version of Record unless a society partner requires a different license. The copyright policy page lists exceptions.
How long does peer review take?
Targets vary by field and reviewer availability. Many journals aim for a first decision within three weeks after sufficient reviews are returned; you will see journal-specific SLAs on each title page.
Do you offer APC waivers?
Yes, with documented eligibility criteria. See the waivers policy and include a waiver request at submission when applicable.
Can I share a preprint?
Journal-specific. Most titles allow preprints if declared at submission; embargo and versioning rules are listed in author guidelines.
How are conflicts of interest handled?
Authors and reviewers declare conflicts in structured forms. Editors with conflicts are recused per COPE-style workflows configured per journal.
